My name is Dr. Christian Hott. I am an independent economic advisor with over 15 years experience in analysing economic and financial developments. I got my Masters degree in Economics at the University of Konstanz and my PhD at the Technical University of Dresden.

In 2014 I have founded Economic Advice. As an independent economic advisor I support international financial service and public policy clients by generating new insights, writing reports and articles, briefing on current issues, giving presentations and lectures and developing custom made tools, such as stress tests, fundamental market indicators or measures of aggregated credit risk.

In addition, I am an external Lecturer at the Helmut-Schmidt University Hamburg, teaching business cycles, microeconomics and insurance economics.

From 2012 to 2014 I was Economic Advisor in the Government and Industry Affairs Department Zurich Insurance Cooperation (Zurich). In particular, I was managing the Thought Leadership Project “The Social and Economic Role of Insurance” and developing enterprise positions on economic topics like fiscal and monetary policies, stability of the financial sector, long-term investments or regulation. Furthermore, I supported the Senior Management (CEO, CRO, Board) by providing briefings and speeches and I was a member of internal and external working groups (e.g. European Financial Roundtable, Brunetti Expert group on strategies for the Swiss financial sector).

From 2004 to 2011 I was Senior Economist in the Financial Stability department of the Swiss National Bank (Zurich/Bern). This role involved managing internal projects (e.g. stress tests, macroprudential instruments or market risk), writing chapter “general economic and financial conditions” of the SNB´s Financial Stability Report and briefing the Senior Management / Board. In addition I was a member of international working groups (e.g. CGFS Working Group on private equity / leveraged finance and the FSF Vulnerabilities Group).
